I´m triing to use the fabulatech solution but it doesn´t work like i want...
I need to map all (127 devices) USB devices from many client´s to a Windows 2008 R2 server but it seems that the solution is PER SERVER... This means that all users conected to the same server can access all devices...
I´m the only one looking for a solution PER SESSION?
"USB for RDP" software simulates as if the USB devices are really plugged into terminal server and every user can see each other's device, even though every user has it's own account. We are planning to implement a separate access option in our future versions but unfortunately I cannot tell you the precise date.
But there is a workaround for this - you can introduce virtual environment (VM-ware, Hyper-V) so every user could have it's own virtual machine (in this case the users will not be logged in the same operating system but will have the operating systems and sessions of their own). In this scenario everything will work.
In case you are going to try this your feedback will be much appreciated.

One server can handle 6-8 users PER CORE in VDI agains more then hundred users in TERMINAL SERVER (now REMOTE DESKTOP)...
With who can i talk to help for the solution on Terminal Server became a reality?
"USB for Remote Desktop" is a great solution, but in larger terminalserver environments it is really necessary to map the usb-devices per session instead of per server. This is the only reason, why we cannot use the actual version of "USB for Remote Desktop" in our production environment!
Hope the new functionality will be implemented soon.
We understand that the mapping a device per session will be much better that mapping it per server and we are working to resolve it and we are about implement it in our future versions.

Thank you for your information. Because of security reasons I have to wait for the new version of "USB for Remote Desktop" before installing it in our Citrix-based "application service provider"-environment...
I wonder if the access to the devices mapped to the same server will be under password protection. Will this feature also do for you. Or mapping the devices per session is the only feature you are interested in?
It is important for us, that the user can only "see" those usb-devices in his terminalserver-session, which are connected to his client (= workstation).
I think, password protection of the mapped usb-devices is not always sufficient, because some of our applications automatically choose the usb-device and would get "confused" if usb-devices of the same kind but different users are shown in the session (e.g. smartcard-readers, medical-devices).
I also need this to map per session. We have 20 of the same usb device and the software we're using picks a random device. I want it to only choose the local device. Unfortunately won't be able to purchase without this ability.
I have the same problem as above, we would like this software to work on per session base. We have installed software on windows 2008 R2 and have made or device work very well but only if you map throught with one machine then login to another ts session and use it. Which means everyone is looking at one device even though we have map it to one session. What weird is the one session that we have done the redirection on does not work with software we are trying only other ts session work just fine. Please let me know what you have come up with. Anyone who's interested in this functionality (separation of access to redirected USB devices) please give us more details on what kind of device you need to use and what software you want to use it with. This feature is currently at the experimental stage and it works only for certain types of devices.
