Multi-user USB redirection with RDS
« on: Apr 23rd, 2020, 2:56am »

Hi,

Has anyone had experience using USB redirection for Remote Desktop Services (RDS) enabled servers that host multiple concurrent users? Are the USB devices mapped and isolated to each user session only or are they made available to the system at a root level? Is there a limit to the number of sessions or redirections that would be supported in this configuration?

Appreciate any wisdom and general considerations from the forum.

Hi,

We are using special driver to isolate each redirected usb device within individual RD session.
You can see all redirected usb devices in Device Manager on USB for RD (server) PC but you can use only your (redirected within your own RD session) devices (on the remote side within RD session).
If you don't need to have this isolation you can disable it (rename ftsjail.sys file on USB for RD (server) PC and reboot USB for RD (server) PC after that) or use another FabulaTech product - USB over Network.
Let me know if any other question.
Regarding "a limit to the number of sessions or redirections".Please contact our Sales Manager for help.

Thanks for the response, Sergey.

This sounds promising. We will conduct some testing to see how seamless this is with our concurrent user scenario. Thanks!
