Environment: (using the free evaluation copy of USB for remote desktop) client (desktop) = windows XP SP3 RDP server = windows 2003 various flavours (sp2, R2 sp2, citrix)
Installed client and server elements of USB over remote desktop
Client-side seems to work OK - sees the USB drives (mass storage devices = Cruzer Sandisk, titanium) and redirects as asked
Launch server RDP session and no sign of anything - nothing at all (2 different servers) - logged in with reduced and admin permissions - done ther troubelshooting options on the client
No firewalls on
Are there any obvious gotchas that might cause this behaviour ? you can see the fabulatech virtual usb bus in the hardware properties (presumably this is what the USB over RDP service does) but that s all - removed all poss conflicting drives out the way (CD roms etc) still no sign
What is the version of USB for RDP and are the versions of Workstation and Server part of the software the same? Can you see the connection ID on USB for RDP Server or is it just nothing there?
Please try to auto-redirect the devices from USB for RDP Workstation (settings->properties->auto-redirection and replug the device).
John, thanks for additional details. Please check if you have the process ftusbrdp.exe running on the server. If it's running but you still see nothing on USB for RDP Server shell please restart the process manually (ftusbrdp.exe from c:\windows\system32. ).
