DigitalPersona Readers

Hi,

I cannot get this SW to work with the DigitalPersona readers 4500 or ET710 when used with Windows 10 machines as both server and workstation. I have installed both the server and workstation components but when I try to connect via Citrix or RDP the readers are not recognized. I get the message "no connected devices found" in Biometrics for Remote Desktop tray menu.

If have tried the following:

- installed the WBF driver for the ET710 on the workstation.
- installed the U.are.U SDK which contains the drivers on the workstation (with and without the Authentication Service).

I have not installed any drivers on the server.

Am I missing any steps?

Hi,

Thanks for the interest in our product.
We are working with biometrics on the API level.
What version of DigitalPersona U.are.U SDK do you have?

1) You should install the msi-executable sdk (if exists) or app for biometrics (with dlls registration) on the remote (server) side.
2) You should install the device driver and executable sdk (if exists) (or app for biometrics (with dlls registration)) on the workstation (local) side.
3) Ignoring the absence of the device in the server GUI, try to use any samples from SDK package as test tool on the remote side within RD session.

Thank you for the reply.

I have the DigitalPersona Biometric SDK for Windows v 3.4. I install the RTE (without authentication service) on the local workstation and take one of the precompiled sample applications from the SDK to run on the server.  The sample application uses the C++ API as specified in the SDK documentation. The application on the server does not detect the fingerprint connected to the local workstation. Also I get the message "no connected devices found" in Biometrics for Remote Desktop tray menu on the server. I have tried this with both Citrix and RDP.

Do my installation steps appear correct or am I missing something? Your documentation mentions that the driver must be installed on the local workstation, is does it work with the WBF driver , legacy driver or both?

Thank you!

Hi again,

1) test your compiled sample from sdk on the local (Biometrics for RD (workstation)) PC.
If success then test it on the remote side within RD session.
2) do you use the same bit rate of Windows 10 OS on both (workstation&server) sides?

1/ I have tested the sample on the client workstation and it works as expected. If I copy it to the server and add some DLLs it's expecting (as specified in the VS project) and connect via RDP the sample recognizes the reader, can retrieve the reader capabilities but it will not capture an image.

2/ I'm not sure what you mean by the bit rate, if you mean the architecture of the system they are both 64-bit but that shouldn't matter when connecting via RDP or Citrix.

Thanks.

Hello, are these DigitalPersona Readers supported on AWS Workspaces over PCoIP?

Hi,

Yes, sure. We support RDP/ICA/PCoIP protocols for our products.

I am trying to connect a DigitalPersona 5160 using server side AWS workspaces, and client side Windows 8 PC, but Server side says Client side is not connected. Any clue about this?

I don't know what do you mean by "Server side says Client side is not connected".
"No connection to workstation module" error message in Biometrics for Remote Desktop (server) GUI?
What version of AWS Client do you use? x32 or x64?
Look at this workaround if needed:

We have a support ticket with Fabian Sánchez. Let's continue troubleshooting through this ticket.
