error on program start

When installing USBovernetwork Server (trial version) it seems to install correctly but trying to run the program results in the following message:

"Program cannot start because of the following error: Error (2). Module: FtShellApp (233)."

The PC is running Win2kPro SP4 in an AD environment where individual user accounts have restricted priviledges. The app was installed initially using RunAs but produced this error and so the Administrator logged in, uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, but the same error occurs.

CPU: P3-700 with 512MB RAM. ANy trouble-shotting suggestions? Thank you.

Hello,

I'm also getting this error.  I was running the trial version without any dramas, but then I uninstalled it after the trial expired.

I have since purchased the program, and reinstalled it, but now I'm getting this error.

The error occurs when I try and start the server program on my laptop.

The laptop is running a fully updated XP Pro SP2 install.

Can someone help out with a fix?

thanks,

Hello guys!
This error means that USB over Network service is not started on that PC. Please check if it's so and start it.
If any problems, please send us WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\usbnet-err.log file to support at fabulatech dot com

Thank you.

Andrew, I tried to start the Service manually (when logged in as domain admin). produced the following error:

"Could not start the USB Over Network Server service service (sic) on Local Computer.
Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start."

I will extract the error log and send in. Thank you.

Andrew, sorry but there is no such file as usb-err.log on the PC.

Not in \winnt\system32 or anywhere else on the hard disk.

Ok, I uninstalled the app using the uninstall.exe file.

Then I used ccleaner to clean out the registry.

I then reinstalled the app.

Exactly the same behaviour:

1. Program won't start
2. Service can't be started manually
3. no error log file (usb-err.log).

Any more troubleshooting?

When I try to start the service manually the error message indicates there are missing dependencies (see error message from previous posts).

Are there any such dependencies, such as .NET or ?
There are no dependencies listed under the services control panel as associated.

There appears to be no error log file.

By the miracle of windows, after a couple of days and a couple of reboots I tried it again today and it seems to be working.
