Basic setup problem
« on: Apr 5th, 2007, 11:08am »

I've downloaded the package installed the server and shared my USB device. The server is indicated it is waiting for connection.

I've installed the client on 2 systems - one VirtualPC client, one standard XP PC. Both clients are setup but indicate that available connections: 0 of 0.

No error messages anywhere. USB device is turned on.

Any ideas how I can diagnose this issue?

Hi Neil,
If Client shows (0 of 0) and displays gray server's icon it means that the Server is not accessible from client over network. Please try to ping Server. Successful? Then please disable WindowsXP firewall on the Server and wait antil client detect it (about a minute). Does it work now? In other words, TCP-port 33000 must be open for incoming connections.

Got it to work from my virtual PC environment where it really is required. I disabled Windows firewall and that seemed to do it so I'll investigate how to ensure the it works with firewall.

Both PC's can already access the server so didn't think that was an issue.

Thanks for the help - if this test works it'll help a lot and we'll be ordering the software. It'll allow me to setup multiple virtual environments on my one system so I can support a number of environments.
