Server Environment

I have a few questions regarding your product. I have the trial network version installed, on my main VM Host. I have tried a connection between the VM host and a VM machine, it works fine.
I will be running at least 4 VM's on this host that require modem connectivity.
Questions are as follows.
Can I run multiple modems, one serial and several USB modems with this product or do I need multiple licenses...or...
Will one modem service several requests from different VM's, assuming they all arent dialing at the same time

Thanks for the help

Hello. Could you please specify the product you are testing?
You are going to use only one modem at a time, right?

Network Serial port kit 5.8

Im not sure about one modem at a time, is there a possibility to use more than one?
SOme of these apps dial frequently thats the reason I was shying away from using only one modem in total, but if I can only use one of those modems at a time it may defeat the purpose

Thanks.

You can use as many modems with NSPK as you like. NSPK is licensed per installation. And as far as you have one physical host and 4 VMs you'll need 5 licenses (one license per machine). Each installed instance of NSPK supports up to 256 virtual COM ports that's why the number of modems doesn't really matter.
The price of 5 licenses is $675 ($135 per license). If you want to test working scenario with 5 licenses prior to purchasing I can send you trial license key.

that would be great, if you can give me a 30 day trial it would be perfect, I have the modems on order and they take at least 10 days to land here, plus config and testing, 15 days wont cut it

I will buy all 5 licenses thats not an issue if everything works

thanks bud

Having some issues with my test modem

Ive established the connection ok between VM and server but when I fire up the actual program that dials out on the VM it says cant connect or communicate with the com port.

The program (yours) is off until I try dialing out, then it connects as the dialer program starts its routine, but it doesnt see the com port which is odd because it appears to open it.

I might add the US Robotics modem in Control panel says its disconnected.
Am I missing something

Thanks

Greetings!

To troubleshoot this issue effectively I need more information. Please answer the following questions:

1. What operation system do you use on your physical machine?
2. What operation system do you use on your virtual machine?
3. Are you using latest drivers for USB-modem?
4. What program do you use for dialing?

Also please provide me with description of your setup and with any other information you feel to be relevant.

Thank you.

Physical machine Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit
VM WIndows server 2003 64bit
latest drivers yes
The program is a time keeping system, custom.

Like I said, the modem on the VM does not see the com port, not sure if that helps
