Forcible disconnect

I understand that, when configured, the current version allows users to forcibly disconnect another client in order to 'grab' control of a USB device.

If the device was, say, a scanner and it was half way through a scan for one client and second client forced a connection with the scanner - thereby disconnecting the first client, what would the effect be on (a) the scanner, (b) the first client's screen?

Many thanks,
G.

Hi,

Second Client will connect scanner immediately. First Client will observe the same situation as if scanner is disconnected physically.

Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply. It sounds promising...

Currently, my scanning happens from with a bespoke application using a TWAIN API, which is seamless to the end-user. I'd like to be able to programatically allow the users to find their nearest scanner and then set it so that they force a connection.

Can this be done?

Cheers.

With a help of USB over Network API you can develop your own application that will operate in the way you need.
