Title: Cannot start monitoring... any device.
Post by tfertil on Jul 23rd, 2010, 1:49pm
I just downloaded trial version 2.2.1 of USB Monitor Pro and installed it under Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bits, spanish.

My PC is a Dell XPS M1710 with Intel 80801G (ICH7 Family) USB Host Controller.

I can't monitor any device: nor my mouse, a USB smartphone, or a propietary device (this last being the reason I downloaded USB Monitor Pro).

Every single device fails with this error:

Cannot start monitoring!
Error (1168 ). Module: UsbControlDevice(193).

I already uninstalled and reinstalled the programa, and run it as adiministrator, with no luck.

Thanks for any help.

I'd like to ask you to test the previous version of USB Monitor PRO. Please find the link in the PM. It proved to be more reliable.
Version 2.2.1 will be fixed soon.

Thanks.

I have this same problem. Where is the PM (referenced above), if I would like to try the previous version?

Same problem for me.  Same error message.  Every device I try to monitor.  Using version 2.5.

Windows XP SP3 on a Toshiba Laptop.

Also, when I plug the device I am trying to monitor into a USB port on the laptop, it is recognized and Windows Device Manager shows it.  But USB Monitor does not.  If I plug it into an external hub, both recognize it and USB Monitor does display it (but can't monitor it).

Is there a work arround?

Thanks

I just downloaded version 2.5.
Am experiencing the same issue.

Cannot start monitoring!
Error (1168). Module:UsbControlDevice (194).

It appears that there are multiple incidents of this identical problem.
Instead of sending the link through PMs, why not just provide the link?

SJ

I've downloaded the alternate product, 2.1.
I've received the following message:

This operating system is not supported by this version of USB Monitor Pro.

I'm running Win 7 Starter N

Dear Zetjaro,

Please describe your issue in detail.
- What version of USB Monitor are you using?
- Do you get an error message? (if yes please specify it)
- Have you tried rebooting the PC after the installation?
- have you tried replugging the USB devices you want to monitor?

Thanks.

I just downloaded the trial version 2.5, Windows7 64. I am unable to monitor any device:

"Cannot start monitoring! Error 1168.

I have tried rebooting, no luck.

Thanks for any advice, or link to an older version!

I'm using win7 64bit.
Whatever I do, I'm getting "Cannot start monitoring! Error (1168).  Module: UsbControlDevice (194)."

Any idea?

It doesn't recognize hotplug as well.

fx,

Looks like you're trying the older version of USB Monitor.

Plesae test 2.7 beta 3 and tell us if it helped. As far as I know Error 1168 has been fixed there.
